  • A perfect short story for the in between novel time Kate and Tomasetti are trying to get away for a romantic weekend when the couple who run the BB they are staying in drop an unsolved cold case of the disappearance of a young girl by their inn in their laps Everyone who knows Kate, knows she won t be able to leave it alone. The case is solved in this short work and the ending was wonderful Sometimes justice is best served in not revealing the truth.

  • This is a short story set between books 4 and 5 of the Kate Burkholder series Kate and John decide to take a couple of days off and head to a B and B for a romantic getaway Of course we all know that things aren t going to go quite as planned Kate and John learn about the mysterious disappearance 22 years ago of one of the B and B s guests, and though they are both resolute about leaving it be and enjoying their time off, they just can t help themselves and eventually begin to investigate I enjo [...]

  • This is a short story in the Kate Burkholder series Even though I don t usually care for the mini additions to the series that I like, I still read them It was a nice surprise that I liked this one It was the perfect short story What I enjoyed the most was that it highlighted the characters and gave some back story to their relationship and their commitment not only to their careers, but to each other.

  • I am not a fan of half books I find that this new fangled gimmick is a either a way for an author to test the waters to see if they can bypass publishers or a keep their readers baited until they are ready to reel them in with their next book, either way, they rarely offer anything of any importance to the ongoing plotlines or character development. That being said, Long Lost was a simple diversion while I was waiting between appointments The plotline did not enhance or distract from the current [...]

  • I m not a huge fan of short stories they re over before you can even really care about what s going to happen This book was fine, but I would have preferred if there was Kate and Tomasetti and zero crime solving Also, I noticed a major error in the book It said they ve known each other three years, but in the last book which took place last summer in the plot line, they had known each other a year Also, this book stated it was three years ago what happened to John s family when in the last book [...]

  • Long Lost is a novella 4.5 in the Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo There are several of these and serve as filler or to provide a little background to life in Painter s Mill or to Kate s life among the Amish. In this story, Chief of Police Kate Burkholder and BCI Agent John Tomasetti are taking a much needed vacation and getting away for the weekend However, the bed and breakfast where they are staying is rud to be haunted by a young girl that went missing 20 years ago John and Kate star [...]

  • I was originally not going to read this because, even though I love Kate, I thought that a mystery in 58 pages would be strange But it was actually very interesting I mean it didn t have the gripping scenes that the novels have, but I think that s the point This book is almost about her an Tomasetti than anything else I love that the Amish were still involved in this novella This novella is not needed to read the rest of the series, but it wouldn t feel complete to me without reading it

  • I so love Kate Burkholder, I love the series and I enjoy the characters I m glad that I found these little books that are in between The small things about the relationship between Kate and Tomassetti is awesome I love to see how things blossom between the two I look forward to the next book.

  • In Linda Castillo s Long Lost, Kate Burkholder and John Tomasetti are taking a much needed two day vacation when they learn that the BB they re staying at is supposedly haunted The ghost is said to be that of a girl who went missing over twenty years earlier and while they re supposed to be off the clock, Kate can t help but be intrigued by the old case She and a reluctant Tomasetti decide to offer their help but can they solve the mystery that has eluded officials for so long This one was reall [...]

  • I really loved this short story Kate and Tomasetti are planing a quiet and relaxing weekend at a little bed and breakfast but of course something gets in the way Arriving at the BB they learn of a young woman who went missing there 23 years before.I m always a little skeptical of these little teaser stories that are so popular at the moment but this one didn t disappoint Linda Castillo is one of my favorite authors and I can t wait to get my hands on the next Kate Burkholder story and return to [...]

  • This was a very short story so it only took a couple hours to read It could be read as a stand alone story but you would enjoy it if you have read other books in the Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo I have read all of them and they are wonderful mystery thrillers about Kate who is the police chief in the Amish town of Painters Mill This was a nice little mystery to ride us over until the next book in the series comes out.

  • Well drawn short story by one of my very favorite romantic suspense authors It s always a treat to get a new book in hand from Linda Castillo even it s a short one Fun to see Kate and Tomasetti enjoying a little RR getaway even though they never quite leave the suspense behind.

  • THIS SUMMARY REVIEW WAS COPIED FROM OTHER SOURCES AND IS USED ONLY AS A REMINDER OF WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT FOR MY PERSONAL INTEREST ANY PERSONAL NOTATIONS ARE FOR MY RECOLLECTION ONLYThe plotline did not enhance or distract from the current Kate and Tomasetti storyline that the regular books have been following, it was just a side note involving a weekend away A weekend that involved a bed and breakfast and an apparent haunting involving a missing woman that wandered away one day and was never [...]

  • Kate can t even go on vacation with running into a murder to solve Kate and Tom have gone to a bed and breakfast for a long weekend, but are told by the owners about the ghost that haunts their b b The ghost is a girl who disappeared 20 years ago Of course, Kate can t let it go The two start to interview people and find the answers, but don t report the answers for the safety of the girl.

  • 3.5 STARSThis short story is different in tone than the books it s not as dark, and Kate and John are together the entire time They are spending the weekend at a B B, and they do a little digging into an old missing persons case It has a nice ending, and I liked seeing Kate and John being a normal couple well, mostly normal together.

  • I have read almost all of this series I was surprised that I could get into a story that was so short I got into the story and how they went about solving it The Amish at the inn where they stayed were so easy going and open to their lives The story line kept me going and it was a good read.

  • Okay loved this one No fifteen year old girls This one was eighteen I think and again pregnant A young girl fakes her death to be rid of an overbearing boyfriend But she lives close by and none of the townspeople recognize her Hmmm Kate goes away with John Again with the I cannot commit Getting boring

  • I like Kate Burkholder storiesChief of Police Kate Burkholder and her partner John Tomasetti are taking a weekend at a BB for some RR Of course there is an unsolved missing person case from the place they stay Deciding to take a look into it brings some surprising findings Worth the read.

  • For a short story this one was good ghost story and 22 year mystery solved once again 22 years later they manage to do what no one else could. This one was believable though because of the ending and how they figure it out I won t give spoilers but I enjoyed it.

  • I m glad it was short so I didn t waste much time I read after book 4 Gone Missing but there is a conversion between Kate John in this book that makes it seem it came prior to Gone Missing Regarding John mentioning living together.

  • I m rounding up a little bit to four stars, because the investigation isn t very involved However, I appreciate the lack of grisliness to the crime and the semi twist ending The story is quite short, but it gets the job done.
